Ravi Kapoor
27 June 19??
Liverpool, England, UK
Studied three years at East 15 Drama School in Loughton,
Essex, England.
Despite having spent the first season of “Crossing
Jordan” chasing
butterflies and trying to get
tarantulas to mate, Ravi Kapoor still
hasn’t
developed any love for bugs. He has developed a strong
affection for his character, who despite appearing to be permanently
unfulfilled, has the heart of a romantic idealist beating within
him. “Bug is constantly looking for purity and perfection which is
always going to lead to an infinite series of disappointments.”
Born in Liverpool, England, Kapoor is well-schooled
in his chosen
craft, including three years at the East
15 Drama School in London
and 10 years of professional
work in England before he relocated to
Los Angeles
with his wife (actress Meera Simhan) four years ago.
Among Kapoor’s television credits are the British
miniseries
“Peacock Spring,” “Blood
& Peaches” and the critically acclaimed,
10-part “Land of Plenty,” which also aired on BBC America. He is
also featured in the British independent feature “Wild West,” a film
about a Pakistani country-western band looking to make it to
Nashville. Kapoor’s theater credits include the Los Angeles
production of “Rice Boy” at the Mark Taper Forum. He also wrote and
directed the play “Oh Sweet Sita,” with productions in London and
Toronto.
Following his move to the United States, Kapoor worked
with a
touring children’s theater company, performing
plays such as “The
Tempest,” “The
Three Musketeers,” “The Odyssey” and “Romeo &
Juliet.” Before playing an eccentric forensic examiner on “Crossing
Jordan,” Kapoor played a second-year medical resident on the series
“Gideon’s Crossing.”
Kapoor is a member of the South Asian Artists Collective
(SAART) and
one of the organizers of its annual Artwallah
Festival, which
showcases South Asian talent in the
fields of film, literature,
drama, music and the visual
arts.
Though his character has an obsessive interest in
entomology (study
of insects), Kapoor says he is not
much of a hobbyist. His passions
are acting and reading.
Kapoor currently resides in Los Angeles.
